This double sided album page shows the 2nd battalion East Kent regiment in Hong Kong during their garrison duties in April 1885. The front side has a photograph depicting 876 rank and file soldiers and 24 officers of the regiment with their surnames annotated underneath. This photograph was taken on the Garrison parade ground. On the other side there is a photograph of the sergeants mess which involves NCO’s and senior leadership. These officers are seen wearing their medals from previous campaigns such as South Africa which confirms they had served in the Anglo-Zulu war before they were rotated to complete garrison duty. The album page is in good condition despite minor wear and tear and the annotations on both sides are clear and legible.
